Modern Foreign Languages

Welcome to the Spanish curriculum page where you can learn all about what we have been learning in Spanish this year.

During the Autumn term the children and teachers have been getting use to our new Spanish Scheme ‘Primary Languages.

We have adopted a new approach and all the children in key stage 2 are enjoying learning lots of new vocabulary.

In September, across the school, we celebrated European Day of Languages. Each class dressed in the colours of a European country and enjoyed food tasting, learning new vocabulary and exciting activities linked to each country.

In weekly Spanish lessons the children have been learning basic greeting, colours and days of the weeks. They have been learning lots of songs and games to help with this new vocabulary.

The children have continued their weekly Spanish lessons. This term the children learnt animal names and developed their conversational Spanish skills using classroom commands.

Selected children in key stage 2 worked hard for a special performance at Le Fiesteval at Greenbank High School. We recorded our own song Los Colores alongside a dance routine. The children stole the show and loved the opportunity to perform their language skills.

Take a look at our performance below.
