Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

The Year 3 staff this year are Miss Earle, Mrs Appleton and Mrs Gray.

In Year 3 we continue to provide children with a broad and balanced curriculum that allows for creative thinking and the development of independent skills. We aim to teach this through a range of fun, exciting and practical activities, which underpin the learning of key skills across the curriculum.

We believe that reading is one of the most fundamental skills that children need to learn to be successful, which is why we expect children to read at home with an adult at least 3 times each week. Each read should be recorded in their Reading Record. As well as reading, we aim to provide children with a range of homework activities to prepare for or consolidate their classroom learning. This will have a Maths or English focus. Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be completed by the following Wednesday, unless otherwise instructed. In addition to this, the children will have a weekly spelling test. It is important that the children know how to spell these words, can recognise any spelling patterns and understand their definitions so they can apply them into their writing.
