Year Five Super Scientists
Year 5 have been amazing scientists so far this term and have been studying materials and irreversible changes. This is when you do something to a material and then you aren’t able to get the original material back.
Burning and chemical reactions are perfect examples of irreversible changes in action and the children were fantastic as we explored these changes happening and observed how we could not retrieve our original materials. Oxidation is also an irreversible change and they children gave fantastic explanations as to how oxidation occurs – particularly with copper statues and with fruit – when it goes brown if the air reacts with it!
We are so lucky to have some true scientist in the making!
