School Mission Statement

'Letting our light shine as we live, love and learn, together with Jesus’

School Aims

As a Church School, our aim is that we become an extension of good family life through the provision of facilities within the extended school remit. In the family of the school, each child and each adult will feel a valued member of the team. All pupils and adults opinions will be valued and respected working to achieve a successful happy motivated communicative family.

We aim to build on the relationship with the wider church through our strong connections with St. Paul’s and the Skelmersdale Methodist Circuit, thereby encouraging good Christian values and high moral standards.

We aim to provide a caring Christian environment with a happy, friendly Ethos and calm atmosphere in which all children and all staff can live and work together.

We aim for standards of excellence and enjoyment in teaching, and learning by working together.

We encourage each child to grow into the best young person he or she is capable of becoming, a balance being maintained between the various sides of his or her personality.

We will, at all times, ensure that the welfare of the children is our priority

We aim to ensure that each member of staff develops in a learning climate that enables them to reach their full professional potential.

We aim to include parents in the education of their children and we recognise that partnership between parents and school will most benefit their child. Therefore parents, family and friends are welcome into school in line with our open door policy.

We aim, as a staff, at all times to treat one another, the children and their parents with respect, and, by our example, we will encourage the children to respect one another and their families, and behave towards everyone with tolerance, honesty, integrity and understanding.

We aim to further develop the links with our local community which are already highly valued and any future facilities which are developed within school open up to the community.

We aim to provide a stimulating, safe secure and healthy school environment so making a positive contribution to the whole community.

Christian Values and Ethos

As a church school, Christian values are really important to us and permeate all aspects of school life.

Through our worship and cross-curricular learning, we focus on a different Christian value each half term.

It is also important that we prepare our children for living in a multi-cultural, multi-faith Britain. Our pupils learn the importance of democracy and to respect the views and beliefs of others. Instead of a school council, we have a school 'Ethos Group', which meets weekly. The Ethos Group is open to all members of KS2 and includes our school Head Boy and Head Girl along with our two representatives on The Skelmersdale Pupil Parliament.

The group meets fortnightly to discuss and plan school and local projects such as Harvest and Education services, charity work in the local and global communities and our work for Skelmersdale Pupil Parliament.

The group also contributes to whole school worship and has carried out an audit of how Christian values are evident throughout our school.

Our children also learn the importance of caring for God's Earth for future generations. We have an Eco-group and achieved the Eco-schools 'Green Flag' status.
