“Music education opens doors that help children pass from school into the world around them—a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement. The future depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music.” –Gerald Ford
At Trinity, we aim to provide all pupils with an equal opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of music, to foster and stimulate enjoyment and their appreciation of music.
Music is a medium that allows us to communicate thoughts and feelings, especially those that cannot be put into words. We aim to support our children’s wellbeing by developing self-esteem through musical achievement. Through creativity and imagination, pupils are provided with a wide variety of diverse musical experiences, to nurture appreciation and understanding of music from different times and culture. As we give our children the broader language of music, we intend to enhance their creativity.
As pupils progress through our school, they will be encouraged to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of music. Pupils are given opportunities to explore musical ideas and meanings through listening to music by a wide variety of composers. We encourage pupils to take an active and creative part in all aspects of music (composing, performing, listening and appraising).
We aim for every child to have the opportunity to join a choir and to visit The Philharmonic Orchestra to widen their experiences of live music. We welcome a diverse range of performers to school to increase the children’s knowledge of world music.
We believe that every child should aspire to play an instrument and discover a love for music that stays with them for life
Therefore, children will learn a different instrument each year at Trinity.
